The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nj Paul, held a security meeting in the East Region this March 27, 2025, at the governor’s office on the situation in the region, especially this electoral year, an exercise he said will take him to the other regions.
The security meeting is taking place in the presence of the governor, Grégoire Mongo; administrative authorities; forces of law and order; and security forces.Minister Atanga Nji prescribed collaboration between all the forces and the population as ordered by the Head of State, especially before, during and after the elections.He calls on the authorities to follow up on political party activities and actions by associations, which is part of their prerogatives.
MINAT boss proposed a bottom top approach for security challenges and mechanisms to be put in place to accompany Elecam and signal any discrepancy for remedy action to be taken urgently. Meanwhile Minister Atanga Nji said following reports from the governor, the East region has adopted a tracking system to identify moto bike riders, an example to be emulated by the other regions to reduce crimes and disorder in the sector. Reports will be presented by the top officials in the region in camera with vigilance being the watchword.This security meeting is holding on the heels of the relaunching of voluntary repatriation of refugees from the Central African Republic. There are 523 from camps in Kentzou and Garoua Boulai in the East Region with MINAT boss and the department of Civil Protection and UNHCR overseeing the process.
